The aim of the Rose Margaret Foundation is to raise money to find a cure
for a disease that is so rare that only about 1 in 200,000
people suffer from it. For this reason research work is limited
as are resources in the N.H.S.
Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis (LCH) is a rare form of cancer,
that affects certain white blood cells. The Langerhans cells
are responsible for the defence of the skin and in the upper
airways where they pick up anything foreign and take it along
to the other cells which then fight off the infection. LCH is
an abnormality of these cells.
This illness is long and uncomfortable. I know how this
illness slowly took its toll on a strong and resourceful woman.
Mum never complained but got on with life - she was always
cheerful right up to the end.
I have decided to take on a walk to raise money in her memory
and to help others that are affected by this illness. All money
will be donated to the Histiocytosis Research Trust.
Please read on to find out how you can help.
